The importation of cell phones from China to Mexico is subject to a series of regulations and standards designed to ensure product quality and safety, protect consumers, and maintain local market competitiveness. This article provides a detailed overview of these regulations, including tariff and non- tariff aspects, documentary requirements, and quality standards. It analyzes tariff policies, necessary import documents, and the Official Mexican Standards (NOM) that must be met. Additionally, it discusses measures against unfair practices such as dumping and government subsidies. Through a thorough documentary review, relevant data and statistics are provided, along with a critical analysis of the impact of these regulations on the import process. The study shows that cell phones imported from China are subject to a General Import Tax (IGI) of 10% and a Value Added Tax (VAT) of 16% on the total value of the product, including the IGI and other related costs. Compliance with tariff and non- tariff regulations is crucial to avoid penalties and ensure success in the Mexican market. Furthermore, the importance of adhering to labeling and packaging standards, which require detailed information in Spanish about the content, origin of the product, and importer and distributor details, is emphasized. This article concludes that a detailed understanding of these regulations and adequate preparation are essential to avoid penalties and ensure success in the import process.
