The Sapiens EduTech International Journal (SETIJ) is committed to ensuring high standards of quality in all its publications.
Crossmark is a multi-publisher initiative from Crossref to provide a standardized way for readers to locate the current version of content. Sapiens EduTech is committed to maintaining the content it publishes and alerting readers to any changes that may occur.
Research does not stop: even after publication, articles may be updated with supplementary data or corrections. It is important to know if the content cited has been updated, corrected, or retracted, and that is the guarantee editors can offer readers through the use of Crossmark. This is a standardized button, consistent across all platforms, that reveals the status of a content item and can show any additional metadata chosen by the member. Crucially, the Crossmark button is embedded in PDFs, meaning members have a way to alert readers about changes months or even years after the item has been downloaded.
With a single click, you can see if the content has been updated, corrected, or retracted, and access valuable additional metadata provided by the member, such as key publication dates (submission, review, acceptance), the authors' ORCID identifiers, content type, plagiarism detection status, and information about funding, licensing, peer review, and research data location.
For the purposes of Crossmark, there are two categories of updates: minor and major changes.
Minor changes include formatting and spelling corrections. No substantial changes require alerting the reader, so the Crossmark status is considered current. If changes do not affect the accreditation or interpretation of the work, the Crossmark status remains as is. This also applies to version control of articles: if the changes between versions of a work do not reflect significant alterations in the content of the article, the Crossmark status remains current.
Major changes affect the status of the Crossmark of the work, as Crossmark is intended to inform readers of significant changes in the published literature. Substantial changes, such as the retraction of an article due to an error, or the addition or removal of an author, should be reflected in the Crossmark status of the work. It is good practice to publish a correction or retraction notice (with its own DOI) and not hide it behind access control. This allows readers to follow the link in the Crossmark button and find more details about the update.
