Abstract

An analysis was conducted on the cultural profile of medium-sized enterprises in the city of Loja, using a data collection method based on the effectiveness and efficiency criteria proposed by Cameron and Quinn (2006). This approach allowed for the identification of four types of organizational cultures: clan, adhocratic, hierarchical, and market. Each type is characterized by six key elements: dominant characteristics, organizational leadership, employee management, organizational cohesion, strategic emphasis, and criteria for success. The research adopted a quantitative, exploratory, descriptive, and explanatory approach, collecting data from a sample of 48 medium-sized enterprises using simple random sampling. The data were processed using Excel software, and the results were graphically presented with GeoGebra. The findings revealed that 29.92% of the companies had a clan culture, 23.27% an adhocratic culture, 23.07% a market culture, and 23.65% a hierarchical culture. These results indicate that there was no dominant organizational culture among the analyzed companies, although a tendency towards clan culture was observed. The research suggests that due to the presence of all four types of cultures in varying proportions, it is impossible to define the cultural profile of the organizations based on a single type.
